Position Summary:
The HOD, as an administrative and academic head of the Department, is responsible for the academic growth of the department while monitoring and conducting academic activities, implementation of the departmental academic calendar and timetable with the help of student services under the guidance of the Vice Chancellor. He/she should plan and implement Co-Curriculum and extra curriculum activity such as seminars, workshops, club activities and research with approval of Vice Chancellor. Counselling and mentoring the student at the time of admission with the help of admission team and conduct programs/ events in and with schools and colleges on regular basis is an important responsibility to be undertaken by the HOD of School of Engineering. He/ she is expected to maintain discipline in the department and interact with students once in a fortnight, identify the problems and find solutions in consultation with the student service & student grievance cell and report to the Vice Chancellor. The HOD should promote industry institution interaction for ensuring internship, placement and get waiver from those pursuing further education and going into family or own business or any other reason. The HOD should oversee that campus facilities are adequately available to students in terms of library books, computers and labs by co-ordinating with respective departments. He/ she is to ensure compliance with Act, Statutes, Ordinances, Regulations, Rules, and other orders as issued by UGC, AICTE, NAAC and PURC. To monitor the curriculum development with the latest need of the industry and organize the meeting of Board of studies and maintaining the minutes of the meeting. The HOD is to prepare the department requirements and budget if needed. Oversee all the revenue ad expenditure and ensure expense are kept within the target level, to oversee the purchase and deployment of any resource allotted for the department if required. Any other work relating to the University as may be assigned by the competent Authority from time to time and to promote the brand building of the University by adopting new technologies.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Teach Minimum of 16 hours per week as per UGC norms.
- Faculty Member is expected to update their knowledge by attending Seminars/ workshops/conference, and attempt to publish textbooks, research papers in reputed International/ Indian Journals after obtaining necessary permission from the Vice Chancellor.
- As a Faculty Member must strive to prepare himself/ herself academically to meet all the challenges and requirements, preparing teaching modules and experiential methodology of teaching so that the input may be useful for the student community at large. Faculty Member is expected to extend his/ her beneficial influence in building up the personality of students and he/ she should associate himself/ herself actively with such extra-curricular activities which he/ she is interested in or assigned to him/ her from time to time.
- Groupism of any kind should be absolutely avoided. Faculty Members found indulging in such activities will be subject to discipline proceedings. Create a culture and work ethic that will maximize efficiency and performance in the organization.
Qualification and Experience :
- UGC NET/SLET/SET/Ph.D. is minimum requirement with a master’s degree in relevant subject with at least 55% marks from an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university.
- Having a PhD or pursuing PhD
- Minimum 15 years of experience in academics/industry/research.
- Record of Significant management and leadership experience, successful working relationships with internal and external constituencies, including faculty, students, alumni, and the larger professional information management community.
- In the case of research experience, good academic record and books/ research paper publications/ IPR/ patent record are desired.
Skills Required:
- Provide functional oversight of all undergraduate and graduate CIS / engineering related programs.
- Attract, mentor, advise, and retain students and faculty.
- Guide curriculum development as internal and external needs evolve, submit new programs, and successfully gain accreditation approval of new programs.
- Ensure all activities related to the accreditation of all CIS / engineering related programs meet or exceed standards.
- Manage graduate and undergraduate CIS / engineering faculty to include: evaluations, appointments, compliance and discipline.
- Oversee all revenues and expenditures of the CIS / engineering department and ensure expenses are kept within target levels.
- Be the principal campus advocate regarding the role of computer information systems in achieving the academic mission of K.K. Modi University and foster and develop interdisciplinary collaborations to enhance the University’s CIS / engineering education.
- Use the Campus Management System as a tool to register students and resolve issues.
- Provide leadership in exploring, recommending, and evaluating emerging computer information systems curriculum.
- Effectively address the academic concerns of students and faculty.
- Attract, motivate, and inspire students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds. Give experiential teaching to all students
- Create an environment of trust, integrity, and accountability while fostering a positive climate for learning and development within the CIS / engineering department.
- Ensure internships for all students
- Ensure placements for all students desiring jobs and get waiver for those pursuing further education or going into family or own business or any other reason
- Create a culture and work ethic that will maximize efficiency and performance in the organization.
- Conduct programs in schools and colleges on a regular basis.
- Ensure CIS degree programs are optimized to meet the needs of business and industry.
- Enhance productivity through development and implementation of technology solutions and make recommendations for the acquisition of new hardware and software.
- Keep the VC informed and aware of operational and other activities in the department and participates on committees and working groups as necessary.
- Teach a minimum of 20 hours per week as per UGC norms
